Candy Quest Demo V2 Update!


Here's all of the new stuff that Candy Quest Demo V2 has:

Main New Features:

  • Tons of menu screens have been updated. (Startup intro, start screen, file select, level clear, etc.)
  • The four main levels have had their layouts overhauled.
  • The Fall Forest map has been updated.
  • Tons of color pallets, background tiles, and sprites have been updated
  • The story introduction cutscene has been completely overhauled. It has a new script, new larger visuals, and can be skipped at anytime.
  • The tutorial section has been completely overhauled. Aside from visual updates, there are no longer any interrupting dialogue boxes. All control information is shown via background paintings. It is also now mandatory to complete the tutorial.
  • Added Larion's camp on the map. Come here to chat with Larion the scarecrow and to view your candy totals for the world.
  • Changed the candy collectable system. There are now three unique types of candy to collect in each main stage. 
    • The Mega Candy Corn, by collecting every Candy Corn in a stage.
    • The Lollipop, which can be found in Lollipop challenge rooms.
    • The Ghost Gummy, which can be earned by reaching the end of a level without losing any lives, and are given out from a new ghost character.
    • Bonus stages like the Spooky Store will have their own one-off unique candy to collect.
  • The game now stops players from playing without color.
  • Updated every dialogue box (this was awful to do) to have:
    • Sounds for dialogue boxes opening, closing, and for continuing to the next dialogue box.
    • Variable font width.
    • Make use of three rows instead of only two in some cases.
  • Added a new in-game menu attached to the select button that lets you view your current collected candy within the level your playing.
  • Added New Music tracks and switched around some of the existing ones too I think.
  • Specific to the demo, a new ending scene has been added for beating the demo, and there are three different ending art screens for you to achieve based on how much candy you've collected when you beat the demo.

Smaller Notable Features:

  • Pits now trigger when you touch the actual bottom of the screen, not just the top of the bottom 8x8 tile.
  • The player now takes slight knockback when getting hurt.
  • Candy Corns heal the player for 1/2 hp.
  • Breakable pumpkin blocks.
  • Improved some enemy behavior junk.
  • Other stuff probably.
